Ben Fine

Ben began his career in film as a production designer for the cult classic Kung Fu Jew. Shortly after, while collaborating on graphic novels, experimental animation, and short films, Ben was picked up as a lead animator on the visual effects team for Godfrey Reggio's NAQOYQATSI, the final film of the Qatsi Triligy (Miramax, 2000), setting the stage for his next projects.

Ben is the co-founder of Studio Iodyne, a digital production company that supports new media collaborations between visual effects, stop-motion animation and puppetry. With co-collaborator Tunde Adibempe of TV on the Radio, Ben produced the video PIN for the YeahYeahYeah's (2003 RES fest award winner). Ben also produced several short comedy films including THE RISE AND FALL OF DIX with Hip-hop producer Prince Paul of De la Soul and members of the Handsome Boy Modeling School. In 2005, Ben worked as the Director of Animation for Alex Gibney's Oscar nominated ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM.

In 2012 Ben teamed up with the HuffPost Live crew at Huffington Post to produce motion graphics for their online news channel. Several months later, Ben was hired by FACEBOOK to design and animate a video promoting their brand new immersive newsfeed ad-space CANVAS.

Most recently, Ben created animated sequences for filmmaker Rudy Valdez in his 2018 HBO documentary “The Sentence” (Best Documentary, Sundance Film Festival) and Alison Ellwood’s ShowTime documentary “ The Go-Go’s”, 2020 ( Sundance nominated).

As a commercial animation director, Ben has been hired to direct stop-motion commercials for Nike, AT&T, Hornet Inc, and Puma as well as promotional spots for VH1, MTV and PBS.

Along side his 20 years of working in the documentary and commercial worlds, Ben has been independently producing and directing short films with a loyal team of DP’s, editors, fabricators, and animators.
